Who?
Carla Orthen ( b. 1975), independent curator and writer After completing my M.A. at the University of Bonn in art history, German language/literature and History, I trained at the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt before taking a position at Galerie Sies + Höke in Düsseldorf from 2005 to 2007.
Through my involvement with <gap> , a three-year curatorial project at the Schloss Ringenberg art center, I organized the exhibition “ Abwesenheitsnotizen ” (Absent Notes) in 2007 together with Holger Nickisch (Amsterdam), in conjunction with Museum Abteiberg/Museum X in Mönchengladbach.
In 2008 I was in charge of curating the exhibition “ Stabile Unruhe ” (Stable Unrest), featuring selected recipients of grants from the Hans Böckler Foundation.
From 2007 I spent a year and half as artistic director of Stedefreund , an artist-run gallery in Berlin.
I currently live and work in Fürth (Nuremberg).
